1.
I am not a rebel I just want to live my life You're the one who's the rebel Rebeling against the sun Creating rules and laws But your battleship is heading over the falls Your gun is pointed at my head You can't pull the trigger 'Cause you're already dead
2.
New Land 03:15
I'm an outlaw on my way to Peace, love, and Anarchy The more I come to see The reason for the sun My new land takes me From government slavery Violent man kills Indians And rapes Mother Earth for profit Modern man takes another life And throws it in the pits
3.
What has he done to the balance of nature The rainbow is broken in the eyes of time And in the eyes of the Hopi and Navajo And others oppressed from birth They see the streetlights Instead of the stars above And tears fall on the concrete-covered earth Earth The Sun The Stars The Sky The Great Spirit didn't want the land Dug up to create nuclear weapons And neither did we
4.
Rolls Royce Mercedes Benz Chevrolet General Motors Big house In the shade With an American flag You masturbate There's a stink in the air The smell of 3-piece suits that they wear They aren't me or my bass They are the killers of the human race As they drive by the homeless In their fancy cars They agree with politicians The ones who are killing us And all the pigeons In the morning they wear thongs But they don't care about those nuclear bombs As they drive by the homeless In their fancy cars All the homeless living on the streets All the poor who were killed by police At the feet of rich businessmen they lay Staring at patent leather shoes and briefcases
5.
Porno Party 02:46
The power is sick and pure Force a force to watch a porno For you there is no cure Your mind lies within the eye of the tornado It's a porno party Your mind is so closed it's sick It's a porno party You suck Reagan's dick "Your pretentious attire makes me fart We'll say that you're stoned, make you watch XXX Champagne and nudes are my art Come on all six of you, let's have sex." 1,2,3,4,5,6 It's a porno party Gold leather mini-skirts It's a porno party Let's all buy some Talking Heads shirts Horizontal teeny bopper You'll choke on his gobstopper You think Harry Reems is cool You skate a governmental pool In being a supposed individual, you conform Open your eyes - it's a fiery hailstorm It's a porno party Your mind is so closed it's sick It's a porno party You suck Reagan's dick
6.
What the government gives is a lie They try to label what should be life They organize and categorize They control, control destroy That clock on the wall just sits I'd like to smash it to bits Please mr. businessman go away Please let me live my way Politicians can't set me free With their stupid games, leave me be I see the time in their eyes Hands of a clock formed by their lies That clock on the wall just sits I'd like to smash it to bits Please mr. businessman go away Please let me live my way
7.
I'm a teenage male I am very nice I have a few problems I need a girlfriend She must have a rad body She must have a pretty face She must need sex She must be receptive to my needs In this sea of life Relationship is the boat I sail I need comfort I need problems I met her at a party Or somewhere like that I call her on the phone I can't leave her alone Son of a bitch I have an itch It's on my dick I need somewhere to put it In this sea of life Relationship is the boat I sail I need comfort I need problems I'm a teenage male I am very nice I drive a fast red car I drink beer I'll fight for a girl I'll use my fists To defend my John Thomas From any ill-doings In this sea of life Relationship is the boat I sail I need comfort I need problems No, it's not a surprise It's something most people have Already realized It's common among men It's a dick right up her end It's a releationship deal I know how you must feel -- But I need a relationship right now I need it real bad
8.
Badges 00:37
9.
What is life to you It means nothing You destroy, you kill Without a second thought Why do you chop down that tree Why do you kill that little girl I want to be where the sun always shines And where the wind blows through my hair Well down the way from man's violent path If there's a place, well I'll be there. There must be a place There must be a place where we can run There must be a place There must be a place under the sun
10.
Detonate 03:44
Things are falling down now I get so frustrated when I see There's nothing I can do We're all oppressed now Government lies through their teeth When the night shines They stand up on the moon and yell Detonate! Explode! You may think I'm crazy But I'm a human being not like you Violence is a fact Building bombs to keep the peace Hides the fact all they want to do is Detonate! Explode! Tying me up Bringing me down You won't compromise So set in your ways I am not a prisoner But that's a whole other thing Innocence and guilt mean nothing to me I see the sun rise It burns through your hatred It bursts through your disease Detonate! Explode!
11.
So you say you're The leader of the pack A man among men and that's that You have the power, you have authority You have a gift and people listen Well, I think you're full of shit You're a leader? What leader? No one leads me You stand upon your stage People blindly follow your every word Do you ever think of all the people Suffering while you're throwing your Ego around? I've got something to say, I'm gonna say it right now: You're in the newsroom, You're a big man You've got something to say And you're real smart You're a politician, President of the U.S. You think you're above me? Who gave you the right? Why should I listen to you, Whenever I try to speak You fuck me over Can't you see that while you're up there On your papal heights Spreading the facts around That as long as you're up there And I'm down here There will never be freedom There are others who have brains, Who can think, who can talk!

September 5th, 1986 is the first recording I have of us playing at the Anti-Club. It may have been our first night performing there. I don’t remember. I was eighteen. The address was 4658 Melrose Ave. Several miles west was the Melrose of Poseur, Aardvarks, Retail Slut, and Vinyl Fetish. This wasn’t that Melrose. It was a predominately Latino, working class neighborhood, and still is. At least a couple street gangs claimed it as their turf. I wouldn’t recommend walking around there at night, but we did. Salvadoran food, botanicas, liquor stores, and laundromats. We took promo photos inside that laundromat. No one ever messed with us, probably because we were broke musicians.

We started playing there because we signed to SST, and Chuck Dukowski liked us. He’d tack us onto bills opening for SWA. Helen booked the place, and she hated our music. I don’t know why she gave us gigs. She was always frowning at me.

The bar was directly opposite the front entrance. Behind the stage was an open air back patio where everyone would smoke weed and cigarettes. This may have been the night when I was watching SWA lead singer Merrill Ward play pinball and he exclaimed, Wouldn’t it be great if the machine sucked your dick while you played it?

The Anti-Club closed for good in the late 1990s. By 2004 it was a dance club called Gabah. I hadn’t been to the Anti-Club for years. I ended up at Gabah after a birthday party where I barely knew anyone. There was a DJ and people grooving out to sexy beats. I stood in a corner by myself, and stayed after my friend left. I stared at the spot behind the stage where the Anti-Club sign used to be. I liked one of the banging jams and went up to the DJ to ask him what it was. Music & Wine, he yelled. It was really loud.
